New Novel by Nicolás Poggio Explores Consumerism and Technology

Journalist Nicolás Poggio presents a critical view of the consumerism of devices that simplify but also enslave their users in his 74-page novel. In an interview with the Argentine News Agency, where he is the director of the Political section, he revealed that this project started 14 years ago, recalling the emergence of technology back then.

The plot centers around a journalist working at a news agency, showcasing Poggi's precise knowledge of the journalistic field, based on his experience in media such as the DyN agency. The well-detailed characters and settings make the story accessible to both those familiar with traditional media and those who are not.

The narrative unfolds in a newsroom in a dystopian future, while outside the work environment, a nighttime Buenos Aires provides a dense and familiar atmosphere. The smells and sensations intertwine in the plot, immersing the reader in a constant search for continuity.

As the story progresses, the protagonist faces a digital revolution and a terrifying pandemic. Although written before the COVID-19 pandemic, the description of it resonates with the current situation, capturing the uncertainty and isolation that accompany it.

In 'The Day of the Drones,' Poggio explores new technologies and their potential to affect people's lives, raising the question of whether we are becoming robots. Throughout the 74 pages of the novel, the author does not take direct political stances, but social awareness stands out as an important narrative theme.

The work addresses realities such as homelessness, the scarcity of resources in public hospitals, and the role of the media in everyday life. Through meticulous descriptions and a focus on contemporary society, Poggio seeks to alert readers to the dangers of excessive consumerism and the possible loss of humanity in a world dominated by technology.
